NH TechFest FAQs
- What age is NH Techfest for? NH TechFest is for middle and high school students who are starting to think about their higher educational goals (college or vocational school) and future careers. We want to help teenagers figure out “what do I want to be” and how to get to their goals.
- Can I come if I do not live in NH? Yes – NH TechFest is for teens everywhere. Past attendees have come from NH, Maine, and Massachusetts.
- How can I get extra credit for attending? Tell your teachers about NH TechFest, ask them to look at our website, or better yet- invite them to come too. You may be able to get a homework pass or extra credit by participating in our “Stamp IT” program.
- What is the Stamp It program? When you register at the entrance and pick up our program, each Exhibitor listing will have a space for a unique Stamp proving you went to see that Exhibitor. You can show this to your teacher for extra credit.
- Is NH TechFest a science fair? No – NH TechFest is a festival celebrating all the cool things that Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) bring to our 21st century way of life. Past exhibits have spotlighted the latest in hands-free video gaming, how to isolate or map DNA, and how chocolate is made and packaged creatively. You can drive a robot or fix a fracture, view a laser light show, talk with an FBI agent or watch apples launched across a field.
- Do I need to stay all day? Most exhibitors will be present from 10AM till 4 PM. Some events will be scheduled just once (trebuchets at noon), while others will be repeated (Laser Show). There may be a wait for popular hands-on activities – driving a robot, ride a Segway.
- What if I am not a “Science” person… will NH TechFest be interesting? YES – behind every cool device (iPod, cell phones, music downloads, Facebook…) is a scientific principle, an engineer/technician/inventor, and also marketing/sales/industrial designers and artists. People with many diverse talents are needed for a product to be successful.
